The clubs also met in the League Cup, with City emerging 3-2 aggregate winners over the two ties. The day’s other fixture saw Carlo Ancelotti take his Everton side to former club Chelsea. The Italian boss won the Premier League and FA Cup double with Chelsea in 2009-10.
